Improve Your Bedroom By Accessorizing With Mirrors

Even though designers often have varying opinions on style, you’ll find the majority of them agree that a mirror really can bring a room together. Mirrors have a variety of uses and can make an important contribution to the over all “feel” of the room. They can reflect and give great emphasis t o colors, as well as creating a more visually expansive space. Because mirrors come in so many different shapes, sizes and colors, they are an easy way to accessorize a room with a touch of your own personal flair.

When picking out a mirror for your bedroom, first consider the size of the space you are trying to decorate. Ask yourself if whether or not what it is facing is really worth reflecting. You do not want to create a displeasing image in the looking glass. Entry ways are often great places to place a mirror, especially in a bedroom. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Multiple mirrors on one wall can, and often does, look good if some simple guide lines are followed. Make sure they are the same size and proportional.

Also, while placing them on the wall, group them in a way that is visually appealing. Consider your bed room an art exhibit, and it’s the mirrors that are to be the art. As mentioned before, mirrors are great for manipulating space. If you have a tiny room, go for a larger mirror than you usually would. A larger mirror makes the room appear bigger.

Also, if situated properly, mirrors can bring considerably more light in. If you have a larger room, smaller geometrically pattered mirrors such as triangles and diamond shapes, hung where light naturally hits can bring a sense of fulfillment to an otherwise empty (or mostly empty) space. This being said, try to avoid placing mirrors randomly around your room. It is generally suggested that you do not have a mirror reflecting your bed, or even worse on the ceiling above it.

The ceiling mirror reminds us all slightly of a cheesy 1970’s film. Covering an empty wall space is not always justification for a new mirror, tempting as it may be. As long as one makes sure to emphasize the best features of the bedroom, they really can’t go wrong with a tasteful mirror.
