Colours and Types of Sofa

There are many types of sofas on the market today, from conventional to convertible and from settee to sectional. With the addition of colours, patterns, shapes, and textures there is a sofa out there for everyone. As for myself, I appreciate a beautiful piece of furniture like a divan or settee, but I’m really more of a functional, utilitarian kind of person.

Therefore, I tend to steer towards the sectional and convertible sofas. Sectional sofas allow you to choose and change configurations to meet your changing needs and desires. They offer ample seating for entertaining guests and for everyday use. Many have built in recliners and storage for added comfort and utility. If you don’t want all of the pieces in the same room, you can spread your seating around the house. Convertible sofas are pretty handy to have around, especially when it comes time to host overnight guests. Here you have a couch by day and a bed by night. Most are very easy to fold out and (as long as you did this in advance) are already set and ready to go. When morning comes you just fold it back up again and it’s ready for next time. Futons also fall into this category and are a generally more economical option. As for colours, I really prefer something more neutral that will continue to match my changing décor as years pass. I haven’t settled anywhere permanent yet, so there are likely many more changes to come. A nice beige or brown is usually very appealing. I have a small child, so it’s nice when not every single stain and smudge is staring at you every time you sit down.

It would be nice to splurge and get some fashionably loud colour, but I’m a bit too realistic and practical for such a plunge. Fabric choices are countless on sofas, but of all that I have encountered, micro suede continues to be my favourite. It’s easy enough to clean, is extremely soft, and gives the sofa a more interesting appearance with shades of colour that break up the potential monotony of a monotone sofa. Patterns fall into the same category with loud colours. As the years go by, the sofa you once loved might start to be the eyesore you hate as it no longer fits in with your tastes and décor.

In summary, of all the styles, colours, patterns, and so forth that are available, a beige micro suede sectional or convertible sofa appears to be the best option for me. Both have a balance of form and function and an element of timelessness that will ensure I continue to enjoy them for years to come.
