Making a formal living area that is unique and fun to welcome your guests will say a lot about who you are and how much you value your company.
Hardwood flooring with a decorative area rug sets the tone of our formal living room. Today we will decorate with the theme of birds and trees. You may choose a theme of butterflies with bright spring colours of yellows, browns and pinks. Or flowers with bold colours of red, green and blue. You may choose a fall decor that utilizes the bright oranges and browns of the season. Our birds and trees will be silhouettes. Leaving our imagination free to colour them as we please.
The area rug is a modern rug that has a bird theme built into it, with branches and trees to highlight the birds. On top of the area rug is two swoop back chairs. Since the oak flooring has a golden tone, the chairs will compliment the floor to bring out the colours. The pattern of the chairs also lends to the theme. These chairs have birds and branches that tie the chairs into the rug. Between these chairs sits a functional yet beautiful coffee table. On top of the coffee table is a beautiful plant that can only be mistaken for a large oak tree. In our tree there are birds taking their rest. The table will highlight the golden tones of the floor and the chairs. Lamps to either side finish out the furnishing. Throw pillows on the chairs add warmth and softness. Make the throw pillows a solid colour that compliment the chairs. The pillows will act to tie everything together.
Decorating the walls is where we can let our imagination sore. On one wall we’ll put three dimensional birds flying through our room. These are of different sizes and make their way across the room starting low and ascending as they go. On a larger wall we will hang a wall decor from top to bottom. It will be a seven foot tree with branches stretching across the room. In our branches several birds are taking their rest, and many more are flying in to sit upon the branches. We can also utilize a bird house, bird feeder and a bird bath in our decor, but we don’t want to go over board… Along with the birds, let your imagination sore, then sit back and enjoy your creation
